About My Naturewatch
My Naturewatch was a collaborative design research project between the Interaction Research Studio at Northumbria University (formerly Goldsmiths, University of London) and the Design Products Programme at the Royal College of Art, funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council.
We started a conversation with the BBC Natural History Unit in 2017 about how we might develop a product that people could make themselves to join in Springwatch related activities. The eventual result, My Naturewatch Camera, was featured in their 2018 series, and since then has been made by thousands of viewers.
The project is finishing now, but we will maintain this website so new makers can join in. Everything you need to build your own camera is here, and there is plenty of information (and helpful people) on our forum if you have any problems. Enjoy!
My Naturewatch Camera is the most public-facing of our designs for this project, but here are a few of our other activities.
